Queensland’s minerals and energy sector continues to go from strength to strength and create jobs along the way. Queensland Resource Council (QRC) members report almost 700 vacancies exist across the State, with the largest proportion being in professional and production roles.
Mining industry sources say that 70,000 jobs will be available in the sector nationally over the next ten years, with many of these positions in Queensland.
The information was contained in the last full-year figures provided by 33 companies representing the exploration, mining, minerals processing, oil and gas and electricity production industries in Queensland.
Among other highlights (with previous year and percentage change) reported by the companies:
